Graffiti Art Therapy
About art therapy
Graffiti art therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses art as a way of enabling people to communicate and understand difficult feelings in a safe, supportive environment.
Our organisation street art paris offers art-based therapeutic experiences to people of all ages who use our services, including those who have a learning disability.
Art therapy can help with understanding:
- Disturbing thoughts or experiences
- Feelings of depression and de-motivation
- Why you want to withdraw or avoid social contact
- Why you feel what you feel
- Difficulties you may have relating to others
- Difficulties with communication
You don’t need to be good at art or have any previous experience, to benefit from art therapy. The aim isn’t to produce skilful art or accomplished performances.
Facilitators encourage you to work at a level that feels comfortable for you and help create a space where you feel able to express yourself safely.
Sessions are generally held weekly and may take place individually or in a group.
“Thank you so much for all your time and kindness. I feel very grateful to have had this opportunity to work through a difficult time.”
Art therapists
Our practitioners are experienced arts facilitators, not clinically qualified therapists, and are not regulated by a medical or statutory body such as the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
The work offered by street art paris is creative and reflective rather than clinical psychotherapy.
We prioritise safety, consent, inclusion and clear boundaries and encourage anyone seeking clinical support to consult a suitably qualified professional.
Graffiti Art Therapy
Graffiti art therapy is a creative process through which individuals can explore aspects of themselves using art-making as the primary way of communicating.
Materials may include spray paint, acrylics, felt pens, crayons, pencils and collage materials.
Much of the communication happens through making together, with creativity and imagination supporting reflection and change.
“My therapy gave me a new way of thinking about my negative thoughts and my self-doubt.”
